Thunder Hill Elementary School

Howard County, MD

The Thunder Hill Elementary School project involved a complete renovation of the school with systemic upgrades for all classrooms, a relocating of the administrative suite adjacent to the main entrance, increasing the size of the health suite, renovating and improving the size of central core spaces and improving corridor circulation for ease of movement throughout the school.

TCA also worked to accommodate the increased spatial needs by adding three small additions.  The removal and replacement of all ceiling systems, the installation of a sprinkler system, new lighting and electrical systems, new mechanical systems, plumbing upgrades and the relation of interior walls and handicapped accessibility were goals accomplished.

The design and construction of the additions and renovations achieved a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) ‘Certified’ designation making this facility the second ‘Green’ school for the Howard County Public School System.
